About Panel of Industry Experts
Dennis W. Quaintance began working in the hotel industry at age 15 as a housekeeper's assistant in Missoula, MT, and has been in the hospitality industry ever since. He is the developer and operator of the Proximity Hotel and Print Works Bistro in Greensboro, NC – the first hotel and restaurant to gain Platinum certification with the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The luxury Proximity employed more than 70 sustainable practices in its construction, including recycling 87 percent of construction debris, implementing geothermal refrigeration, and installing regenerative drive elevators that generate electricity on the descent.
Quaintance is also developer of the luxury O. Henry Hotel in Greensboro, NC, as well as the restaurants Green Valley Grill and Lucky 32. He was the 2006-2007 Executive in Residence for the Center for Creative Leadership, and is currently a member of the Civic Board of the Johnnetta B. Cole Global Institute for Diversity and Inclusion.
Alex M. Susskind is a member of the Graduate Field of Communication at Cornell University, Susskind focuses his research primarily on organizational communication and organizational behavior. He is currently researching the influence of customer-service provider interaction as it relates to organizational effectiveness and efficiency from the perspective of guests, employees and managers, as well as the influence of communication relationships upon individuals’ work-related attitudes and perceptions surrounding organizational events and processes such as teamwork and downsizing.
Susskind is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned his PhD in communication with cognates in organizational communication and organizational behavior and his MBA with a concentration in personnel and human relations.
Alyssa Farrell is the Marketing Manager for Sustainability Solutions and works with SAS customers around the world to understand best practices and solutions for challenging business issues. She participates in environmental industry groups and is a member of the Corporate Leadership Council of the National Association of State CIOs.
Prior to joining SAS, Farrell was a senior consultant in the Deloitte Public Sector practice. She is a graduate of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, where she earned her MBA degree with a concentration in Management Information Systems. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
