New techniques and technologies require new metrics. By reviewing emerging trends participants can keep up with evolving market opportunities.
Among the trends discussed:
There is a convergence among enterprise applications, with a need for process and technology spanning the traditional boundaries of ERP, CRM, supply chain automation, and e-business across an enterprise.
Supply and demand intersect in CRM applications, which bring the capabilities of an enterprise together with the needs of customers.
Historically the viewpoint of CRM has been inside the enterprise-focused on increasing process efficiency. Advances in technology and, more importantly, new thinking, places focus on the customer. The main goal of any CRM implementation should aid in an enterprise serving its customers better.
CRM is not technology; it is philosophy, process, and technology. The largest effort in any enterprise should be in planning and creating measurable goals.
What are the emerging forms of supply chain solutions for manufacturing and service industries? Come learn how companies use processes from different value chain components of a distributed and virtual supply chain to rapidly design, develop and deliver solutions to customers. The presentation will include discussion on the:
Need for virtual supply chains

Since the mid-1990's Ahold USA and The Ralston Purina Company have been working with activity-based costing. Over the years, both companies have worked to try and incorporate ABC information into their routine business processes, sometimes with limited success. Over the past year, both companies teamed up again to deploy ABC/M-based decision support tools to make ABM a routine part of the daily business process. However, this time the focus was clearly on supply chain management - inclusive of both the vendor and retail segments. Working with an existing Oros model for performance measurement purposes, Ahold USA brought in the new Value Chain Analyzer (VCA) tool as a process 'what-if' modeling tool and partnered with Ralston Purina to further optimize the supply chain they mutually control. This presentation will share objectives, approach to the pilot, and early results. Some newer ABM theory will be shared as well as practical application and results. Interactive discussion will be encouraged—taking the final test will be optional.Moving from past cost shifting techniques to true cost elimination requires that trading partners work collaboratively. Typically, organizations implement ABC to solve a perceived problem – the change ABC is supposed to bring about. However, organizations that achieve the most success from ABC first analyze the deeper desired outcome - the true business end-state. To achieve this end-state, organizations must first address other key changes. These changes occur throughout the ABC implementation and take several distinct, but related forms. How each change is managed determines how successful and useful ABC will be. This session will provide you with tools to help understand and bring about change. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the following:
In order to achieve a desired end-state, organizations must formally address key change management challenges.
Ultimate success requires identifying the real outcome that is desired and needed.
Change occurs in several ways and the tools to manage each are different. The ABC implementation team needs to understand how and when each change occurs and manage them at the right time.

The value hub or chain consists of an organization's customers, suppliers, partners and managers. They work collaboratively, leveraging the Internet and other technologies, to create value for all participants. Using measurement methodologies such as activity-based value management (ABVM), organizations in the value hub may determine collaborative approaches for inter-company transfer prices. Balachandran discusses: strategies; critical business processes; key performance indicators; top to bottom alignment and integration; value, revenue and cost drivers; profitable growth for the hub; and strategic alliances across the value chain. Six Sigma and Activity-Based Management are recognized as key strategies that enable companies to achieve unprecedented success. Campi explores how these tool-sets, when combined, are driving world-class process improvement in today's age of digitization. This is truly a case where one plus one equals much more than two.An intelligent enterprise requires intimate knowledge of business drivers, customer needs, corporate assets and how best to deploy them. To compete today, enterprise-wide data must be analyzed and acted upon. But only when intelligence is added to that data will companies realize a true competitive advantage. About these GPRA Training Sessions
Public Sector organizations struggle with GPRA compliance. At the same time, they suffer from scarce resources and competing projects. To complicate matters, those fortunate to make any progress discover obstacles to get their managers and employee teams to take actions based on their studies.
Active Enterprise Management (AEM) is a closed-loop and real-time solution that integrates the pillars of management: Strategy, Measurement, Planning, Communication, and Performance Alignment. By bundling managerial tools, such as Scorecards, ABC/M analysis, and Resource Budgeting, organizations can see their manager's visions and knock down the walls to implement them.
AEM leverages technology in two ways: (1) a modeling environment to assess the degree of misalignment of an organization's cost structure with its strategies and targets; and (2) a web-enabled and browser-based platform that fosters spontaneous collaboration and stimulates taking actions rather than postponing them. AEM is all about letting leaders lead and employees do the right things well.
This presentation by a leading AEM practitioner will cover:
Why most organization's managerial accounting systems prevent getting true costs
The obstacles in defining strategies and selecting the vital few measures each employee team should be focused on
The falsehoods in conventional budgeting practices to properly derive the level and type of resources required to realize "to-be" processes
How Scorecards, ABC/M, and Resource Planning integrate to optimize performance
Reducing IT's headaches (an A-130 goal) by moving the computing and analysis platform off of employees' desktop computers onto scalable and secure servers where employees can instantly assess how they are doing on what is important - and immediately document and e-mail their colleagues about corrective actions
The role software "wizards" play to accelerate analytic model designs that produce the "correct" data, not misstated and therefore misleading information
Enable valid, not misleading, marginal cost analysis (the foundation for A-76 studies) equitable, not unfair, cost chargebacks from service-providers to users.

The Networked Virtual Organisation (NVO) is emerging as a result of leveraging networking technology to optimise company performance. It provides the basis for achieving "real collaboration", while maintaining a customer centric posture. What does this type of an entity look like? What are the potential benefits, which can be achieved with this type of a structure? Is there a unique set of Critical Success Factors associated with this new form of organisation? Under what circumstances would it make sense to consider applying virual integration? Is it true that this can lead to "unfair competitive advantage"? How can you apply virtual concepts to your business model to enhance performance? These questions will be answered as we explore the results being achieved by applying these concepts to major international corporations. You will be left with some conceptual thinking on the future evolution of the NVO. To help you unwind after a day filled with presentations, we have organised a James Bond Themed Evening.
